Alejandra Cervantes Enríquez

Alejandra is a designer, researcher, and strategist with a passion for promoting inclusive design by uplifting the voices and lived experiences of the communities she serves. As a Director at MASS, she helps lead the Accompaniment & Impact Department by supporting design teams in embedding design strategy, research, and immersion methods in projects. Alejandra leverages best practices and research methods to address social issues impacting the built environment and architectural practice. Her expertise includes design research, community engagement, architectural design, and storytelling.

Alejandra has leveraged her experience and interest in trauma-informed design to develop design recommendations based on trauma-informed care principles for Haven, a domestic violence shelter, and create design guidelines with Preservation of Affordable Housing and Women’s Resource Center. Her recent work crosses disciplines and typologies, including capital project planning and strategy, higher education campus planning, and curriculum development. 

Before joining MASS in 2019, Alejandra gained experience in architectural design and medical planning for critical access hospitals in the Midwest. During her graduate studies, Alejandra explored the economic impact of architectural projects on local communities. 

Born in Mexico, Alejandra holds a Master of Science in Architecture with a concentration in Research Practices from the University of Minnesota and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Houston.
