David Saladik co-leads MASS’s Boston Studio and oversees MASS’s international health portfolio. He believes that health is a human right and that, when creating dignified and sustainable living spaces, design must be a solution rather than the root cause of the problem itself.

Since joining MASS in 2008, David has worked on leveraging the built environment to improve health outcomes as well as engage and empower communities. He has spearheaded MASS’s expansion into new geographies that are focused on long-term health systems strengthening, establishing new offices in Haiti and Liberia. 

David has served as Principal-in-Charge for projects including the Samajik Health Science Institute & Research Centre, a 520-bed teaching hospital (Dhaka, Bangladesh) and Norrsken Kigali House, an incubator for social entrepreneurs (Kigali, Rwanda). He currently leads projects both at home and abroad, including a behavioral health retreat for at-risk young adults in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and a 150-bed tertiary care hospital in Luanda, Angola.

David has a Master of Architecture from the Harvard Graduate School of Design and has taught design studios on rethinking primary care health centers to maximize positive social impact and resiliency at N.C. State, Northeastern University, and Roger Williams. In parallel to this research, he led the design of the Family Health Center in McKinney, Texas—MASS’s first built US healthcare project.
