Art of Healthcare Cardiac Hospital
The Art of Healthcare Hospital is organized around a phased, courtyard-based design that delivers comprehensive, climate-responsive care to patients from across the region.
MASS partnered with Mazzetti and International Premiere Health to design a world-class hospital near the historic coastal town of Bagamoyo, Tanzania. The hospital program includes comprehensive general care services, including surgical and maternity suites, an emergency department, and a wellness-focused extended-stay center. The facility was designed to be constructed in phases to expedite the onset of services, while allowing for future growth.
The master plan organizes clinical programs around a series of courtyards, with each building focused on a distinct function. Covered walkways and bridges connect programs visually and physically, creating a coherent and accessible campus.
The design prioritizes natural ventilation and passive cooling, including shaded walkways and a network of outdoor pools to support thermal comfort. Strategically sited adjacent to a newly proposed port, the hospital will be easily accessible for patients traveling from across the region. Onsite accommodations for patients, families, and physicians further support continuity of care and a holistic healing environment.
