Chris Scovel deeply values his role as an occasional mentor to a broad range of projects and individuals at MASS, as well as the intensely collaborative aspect of MASS’s work both within the office and with partners and clients. The wide variety of work undertaken by MASS is a constant and welcome challenge.

Since joining MASS in 2011, Chris has worked in different capacities on multiple projects in East and West Africa, India, Haiti and the United States, leading design teams for new large hospital complexes, new hospital buildings, and renovations. He initially worked closely with MASS’s Haiti team, advising on the construction of the GHESKIO Cholera Treatment Centre and Tuberculosis Hospital. Later, he worked on hospitals and schools  in Kigali, Rwanda and elsewhere in Africa. 

More recently, Chris has worked on a variety of projects based in Boston and across the US, including notable highlights such as The Embrace memorial to the Kings and the King’s Chapel. As a Bostonian, Chris relishes the privilege of doing meaningful public work in his home city. 

Before joining MASS in 2011, Chris worked as an architect in Boston providing design, project management, and construction administration expertise on multiple institutional projects. Chris is a registered and LEED certified architect. He received his Master in Architecture from Harvard’s Graduate School of Design.
